SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Sharks and New York Islanders have been working together to make a new logo for the team’s upcoming season.
The Sharks’ official logo is expected to be unveiled in late May, and the Islanders’ is expected at the start of the 2018-19 season.
The logo, which will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Friday, will feature the word “Sharks” in blue on a white background.
The logo is designed to mimic the team name.
The Sharks will also have a new name.
The team will replace the words “San Jose Sharks” with “San Francisco Sharks.”
“We have been very fortunate to have great relationships with many of our partners in the sports industry,” Sharks President and Chief Operating Officer John Huss said in a statement.
“We’ve been able to forge strong partnerships with many top names in the business and we look forward to bringing our new logo to life.”
The Islanders will have a logo featuring the words, “Shark Island.”
The new name is expected sometime in the summer of 2019.
The Islanders’ logo will be similar to that of the Sharks, but the team is likely to have more of a traditional look with a blue background and the word ‘Sharks’ at the top.
